South-west Portugal has a very sunny and warm climate, resulting in very mild winters and hot summers. Inland in summer can be very hot, but coastal areas benefit from the breeze that keeps the edge off the heat.
The house itself is well insulated, keeping it cool in summer and easy to heat in the cooler months of winter.
The currents of the Atlantic Ocean keep the water cool and refreshing, ideal for cooling off on a hot summer’s day. Water temperatures range from 14ºC in winter to 21ºC in summer, so if you’re surfing bring a 4/3mm wetsuit in winter and a 3/2mm wetsuit in summer.
